To celebrate World Horse Day, horses from different eras are layered together using a collage approach and diverse artistic effects, creating a clash between traditional and modern styles.

As an extension of my NYU thesis project, I expanded Echoes of the Gallop into a group exhibition featuring twelve artists, held at the Chinese American Art Council.

In celebration of the UN’s World Horse Day on July 11, this exhibition serves as a journey across time and space, where the horse’s enduring spirit bridges historical heritage with the future.

The exhibition weaves a rich tapestry spanning generations and media: from the masterful ink-wash strokes of instructors at the Xu Beihong Art Association to the bold expressions of contemporary youth; from digital vistas sketched by AI algorithms to interactive landscapes awakened by human touch.

Through this dialogue of tradition, technology, and empathy, the horse transcends its physical form, inviting us to feel the eternal pulse of a shared cultural rhythm.

Horses hold different meanings across various cultures. In traditional Chinese culture, a horse would grow up alongside a warrior, fostering a deep bond over time; consequently, on the battlefield, the horse beneath them was the one companion a warrior could truly trust. Thus, horses have long held a significant place in China, serving as both partners and helpers. On this World Horse Day, the resounding spirit of the galloping horse serves to awaken that profound connection between human and horse.

For this piece, I centered the work on the theme of the horse, reassembling depictions of horses in various styles—ranging from traditional art to AI-generated imagery—into a modern digital artwork.

The background music is a blend of the Guqin (a traditional Chinese zither) and modern electronic music, creating a fusion of the traditional and the contemporary.

From the audio to the visuals, the entire work embodies the theme—"The Echo of Galloping Horses"—by harmonizing traditional elements with modern expression.
